We are seeking a passionate and skilled baker to join our team for a 3 month contract January to March. This position is to cover an absence on the team and would be suitable for someone new in field or looking to learn and develop and further their baking skillset.
Our business is always changing and evolving and therefore a permanent position may be available on completion. Regardless of which the successful candidate will be a strong position for a role with us in the future.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing various types of bread, including sourdough, specialty breads and pastries.
- 32 hour work week (approx – negotiable)
- Be available for early starts from 3am
- Rate of pay dependent on experience and availability to work early mornings.
We favour candidates with the right attitude and mindset over specific technical ability. We are small, friendly team and the ability work well with others is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sourdough mixing, fermentation and shaping as well as other dough preparation techniques, including lamination and sheeting.
- Following recipes precisely while also demonstrating creativity in developing new and improved baked products.
- Manage inventory and minimise waste by effectively tracking and ordering ingredients.
- Collaborate with the team to innovate and introduce new products based on customer preferences and trends.
- Maintain strict food hygiene standards and comply with health and safety regulations. (Level 2 hygiene qualification preferred; training provided if needed.)
- Continuously seek opportunities for improvement and embrace feedback to enhance your skills and our offerings.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workstation at all times.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and a team-oriented attitude.
- Be flexible and available to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Qualifications:
- Understanding of sourdough process and artisan bread
- Attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude.
